Cookies policy

Use of cookies

When you visit any website, it may store or retrieve information on your browser, mostly in the form of cookies. Cookies are small text files that do not affect the security of your computer. Cookies offer you a better browsing experience and permit the publisher to compile anonymous statistics on the website traffic. This information might be about you, your preferences or your device and is mostly used to make the site work as you expect it to.

The information does not usually directly identify you, but it can give you a more personalised web experience. Information contained in a cookie may in fact be linked to your personal information, such as your IP, for purposes such as improving the quality of your user-experience, tailoring recommendations to your interests, etc.

Based on the duration of their tracking, cookies are classified as session cookies or permanent cookies. The former are deleted automatically when you quit your browser. The latter are stored on your device for a longer period. These include, for example, cookies apt to register your acceptance of our cookie policy, so that you won’t have to see the cookie banner every time you visit our Websites.

Most cookies are set up by us and thus are called first-party cookies. We may also use third-party cookies – which are cookies from a domain different than the domain of the website you are visiting – for our advertising and marketing efforts. More specifically, we may use cookies and other tracking technologies for the following purposes:

Performance and analytics Cookies

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Websites. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our Websites, and will not be able to monitor its performance.

This website does not use any of this cookie type.

Visitor preferences

These are set by us and only we can read them. They remember if you have agreed to (or refused) our cookie policy and other preferences you may have selected, like the Websites language.

This website does not use any of this cookie type.

Operational Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the Websites to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the Websites will then not work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.

These are stored when you log in to our Websites, using our authentication login service. When you do this, you also accept the associated privacy policy and terms and conditions.

Targeting Cookies

These cookies may be set through our Websites by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising. We currently do not employ any such cookies, but should this change, we’ll update this legal documentation accordingly.

This website does not use any of this cookie type.

Third-party Cookies

These are stored when you log in to a Commission site, using our authentication service (EU Login). When you do this, you accept the associated privacy policy.

Some of our pages display content from external providers, e.g. YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

To view this third-party content, you first have to accept their specific terms and conditions. This includes their cookie policies, which we have no control over.

But if you do not view this content, no third-party cookies are installed on your device.

Third-party providers on our Websites

You Tube
Google Maps

These third-party services are outside of the control of EUF. Please keep in mind that providers may, at any time, change their terms of service, purpose and use of cookies, etc.

How can you manage cookies?

You can delete all cookies that are already on your device by clearing the browsing history of your browser. This will remove all cookies from all websites you have visited.

Be aware though that you may also lose some saved information (e.g. saved login details, site preferences).

For more detailed control over site-specific cookies, check the privacy and cookie settings in your preferred browser.

You can also set most modern browsers to prevent any cookies being placed on your device, but you may then have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site/page. And some services and functionalities may not work properly at all (e.g. profile logging-in). For more information on that, please refer to your browser’s documentation.
