Some months before the mobility, I arranged the themes to be taught for the students with the Spanish colleagues from the Department of Geography at Valencia University. After some messages, I decided to entitle the short course as „Cartography and Geovisualization” and to include three main themes:
- Historical introduction: milestones in the development of data visualization and specifically cartography and geovisualization
- Innovative methods of representation for thematic maps
- Newest web- and GIS-based map solutions
We also decided to make the presentations and practices in Spanish language and the classes were organized as follows:
Monday, September 14 (11:00 AM to 2:00 PM): Three practical lessons with three groups of MSc students
Wednesday, September 16 (12:00 to 2:00 PM): Theoretical presentation for the three groups of MSc students together
Wednesday, September 16 (4:30 to 6:30 PM): Theoretical presentation for the three groups of MSc students together
Thursday, September 17 (9:30 AM to 1:00 PM): Three practical lessons with three groups of MSc students
I had a first, informal meeting with two of the colleagues of the department on Sunday afternoon (September 13) and a final, official meeting in the department on September 18, Friday morning.
